Your terminology seems inconsistent with
your sample file.

You mentioned placing "X" if present
and "A" if absent.
But in your file, there are no "X's" or "A's".
But P,L,U,E
In which U and E represent Absent codes Unexcused and Excused
But L in the legend says it represents Late
yet in the summary, L represents "Leave"

The sample data ONLY uses P and L.

In your Description, you say:
"IF THE "A" BEYONDS <3+ Days Continuously "
which reads if it's "A" LESS than 3 or more days...
which doesn't make sense.
1 is less than three, and 30 is less than more than three.

Do you really mean if it's "A" >3 days sequentially?

Your example for "John" doesn't exist in the sample file.
So I'm having trouble following it.

For "John", the data for days 1-8 would read:

P P P P L L L L
Yet one of those days MUST be a Sunday.
Which, according to your attached file, no attendance is
recorded (or presumably required).

Do you wish to exclude Sundays when counting sequential days?
That is:  Absenses on Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday
but being present before and after will count as 4 sequential absences?

Also, the attendance January 2010 is complete (full month)
Does 4 sequential absences anywhere in the month constitute "Irregular"
or only the last 4 entries?

And finally, before I move on...
Do you care if it is a Macro/Function or do you require a Cell Function
approach?

I'd like to help, but it looks like I have to make WAY too many initial
assumptions.

Paul
