Do you mean to change the file associations? For that, what you do is change your own associations. Then go to the system registry (using run -Regedit) Find your .xlsx extensions, right-click and "export" the settings to a file (it'll put a .reg extension) You should get something like:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open] @="&Open" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command] @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office12\\EXCEL.EXE\" /e \"%1\"" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\ddeexec] @="[open(\"%1\")]" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\ddeexec\Application] @="Excel" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\ddeexec\IfExec] @="[Rem Comment]" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\ddeexec\Topic] @="system" Do this again for .xlsb, .xls, .xlsm then edit the files you've created and combine them into one file. if you sent THIS file to the users, and have the execute it, the file will update the settings. hope this helps.
