Deepak,

That's a limitation with Countif and Sumif. Ofcouse there are workarounds
and the easier one would be - to use SUMPRODUCT.

Example Syntax -

=SUMPRODUCT(--('C:\Myfolder\[AB.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1:$A$28="Apple"))
