hi Jon, This has always been a problem with data validation and paste. The only way around it, that I know of, is to use a 'Change' event macro. You ask VBA to examin any new data to see if it is suitable. If it isn't, get VBA to delete the entry, and post a message box politely informing the user that they've done it wrong.
