I have acomplex formula I need to plug into an Excel spreadsheet and I can't figure out how to get the results I need. Can anyone provide me assistance please?
Here's what I have: Column D = date of payment Column E = amount of payment Column I = category (A, C, F, M, N, D) Columns J, K, L, M (these break down the categories) I need to add up the number of each category and sub-category (i.e., A +J, or A+K, or A+L, or A+M, or C+J, or C+K, or C+L, and so on) and place the individual totals in separate cells. I also need to add up, by the respective sub-categories (above), the dollar value of only those amounts in Column E which reflect a date of payment in Column D. (Column D may have dollar amounts in other cells which do not reflect a date in Column E.) To add to this, I need to perpetuate these formulas to include the entire columns as they grow with additional data being added daily. I'm thinking this would be reflected as, for example, E:E rather than E4:E200 (or whatever). I know the basics of Excel, but this is beyond my knowledge. I would appreciate any assistance in creating the formulas I need; or even a guide (nudge) in the right direction.
