There must be something else going on.
I copy/pasted your macro into a new workbook
and it worked perfectly.

I also am using Excel2007 SP2 and WindowsXP SP2

first, copy your sub into a code module of a new workbook
and test it.  if it works there, it is something
related to the workbook you're in.

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Excel 2007 Run-time error '6': Overflow on
Selection.Columns.Count

The following code shown below is straight from the Excel 2007 msdn
web page on the Range.Count Property. When I select a range on Sheet1
and run the macro a Run-time error '6': Overflow error is generated on
the following line of code:

MsgBox "The selection contains " & Selection.Columns.Count & "
columns."

I am running Excel 2007 SP2 on Windows XP SP2. Any idea what the
problem might be?

Thanks,

fitman
