Hi Prashant, thanks for the effort.. I see that you have implemented the suggestion offered by Rolf of using dateif function. but the main problem still remains, i.e. of attributing each sale to its respective purchase date. have you tried using my suggestion?? that of converting the data which is 'date-wise' into 'individual-share-wise'. see the bottom of my second post after the example. I think it might be possible to write a macro for such data conversion. what do you think?
Hi Prabhakar, the colsing stock in units is calculated as "opening +purchases-sales=closing". for its value, u've can go backwards, from bottom to top when the data is arranged datewise. but that does not solve the problem of cap gains calculation unless you are absolutely sure that all the transactions belong to only one particular category. Hi Tushar, i know a little about access, but i have no idea how it can do such calculations as FIFO. can you offer some suggestions, is it something to do with reports?? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some important links for excel users: 1.
