Thanks Chris,

I'll Google for OnChange related to Excel. I have found more detail
now by experimenting. I wrote the function as (paraphrased and pseudo
coded):

Function DoStuff()
   if (Cells(C3).value = "FirstChoice") then
      ...
End Function

Then in other cells, i have "=DoStuff()". Because the dropdown list
cell is not passed to the function, Excel doesn't run the function
when things change. But if I write it as:

Function DoStuff(Options As Range)
   if (Options.value = "FirstChoice") then
     ...
End Function

Then all works well. It would have been a lot more convenient to use
an event, but I've already made all the changes all over the
spreadsheet to work the new way. (Which I recognise is probably a lot
better anyway... It was a bit of a quick and dirty progect.

Thanks!
