Display Your Numbers As Thousands

Sometimes you need display your numbers as thousands without changing the
actual cell value. You can do that with a custom number format.
 
Select the cells you want to format as thousands. In Excel 2003, click
Format, Cells. In Excel 2007, click the dialog launcher arrow on the bottom
right corner of the Number group. From the Number tab, click Custom, type 0,
(zero comma) in the Type field and click OK.
