I have a spreadsheet that is used on both Macs and Windows machine,
windows environment is a no brainer.

My problem is with the Mac.

I need to be able to connect to an SQL-Server database and retrieve
data on the fly, at the moment we've purchased Actuals ODBC driver for
the Mac which work great with MS-Query which lets us retrieve data
from the SQL-Server when the spreadsheet is opened.

I can use the MS-Query to retrieve the data that I'm looking for and
store it in a workbook because it would retrieve over 200000 rows.

RIght now my users are on Excell 2004 for Macs, upgrading to 2008 is
an option.

Any suggestions on how to connect to the database in code?

Thanks
