That did it! I have no idea why I did not put the leading '/' there. This is great! Solves the problem of automated backups, and simplifies the restore as well! It was in the expected place, but due to PEBCAK, I did not actually run it. I did notice, while testing, one error message saying that something changed during the backup. I also notice, in the same directory as evolution-backup, a file called killev.
