Hi, I'm using Yahoo and Rocketmail POP accounts with Claws and Evolution. Since end of October it's required to generate a new password for each application, when using a mailer other than a Yahoo app or the web interface. For each account I generated one password for Claws and another for Evolution.
Evolution sent an email... "Hey Yahoo Member, [snip] Option 3: You can generate a one-time, unique password that will allow you to sign in to your account using your non-Yahoo email application. Once created, this password will continue to allow your app to securely sync your Yahoo email unless you sign out (or are signed out) from your app. You can find instructions on how to do this here https://uk.help.yahoo.com/kb/new-mail-for-desktop/SLN15241.html?impressions=true . [snip]" ...if you click the link, you get "Generate and manage third-party app passwords Some older, third-party email apps (that do not use our Yahoo branded sign in page) require you to enter a single password for login credentials. To access your Yahoo Mail account on these apps, you'll need to generate and use an app password. An app password is a long, randomly generated code that gives a non-Yahoo app permission to access your Yahoo account. You’ll only need to provide this code once to sign in to your third-party email app. Generate an app password 1 Sign in and go to your Account security page. 2 Click Generate app password or Manage app passwords. 3 Select your app from the drop down menu and click Generate. 4 Follow the instructions below the password. 5 Click Done. 6 Use this app password and your email address to sign in to your email app. Revoke an app password [snip]" IIRC neither Claws, nor Evolution can be selected from a drop down menu, but there was an option to add any other mailer. Users who don't have the money to pay for this, but who own a mobile phone could chose between endless much providers when willing to give away there mobile number. I don't own a mobile number, so I got the zoho account I'm using for this list, before that fashion was introduced. However, even the best of those countless providers could be carried over soon, so it's impossible to recommend any provider. One of the better free as in beer accounts I'm using, that doesn't require a mobile number (I donated, but you aren't forced to donate) is riseup.net, they are doing everything right, so you even get rid of the "via evolution-list" annoyance. IIRC while it's made by activists, so you don't need to fear that a company will carry it over, they only provide POP accounts.
