I suspect that the issue is with your local X server, not the remote client. It's not something I usually do as I run Evolution locally, but between two Fedora31 machines at work and home, Evolution displays OK - it's slow, but it displays without errors. What is your local machine OS and X server? Do things like glxgears or glxinfo run OK?
