Hi, that would be because you use HTML. Unless HTML really needed, Plain Text is better (from my point of view). Try Edit->Preferences->Composer Preferences->[ ] Inherit theme colors in HTML format. It has some side effects, like sending your theme colors to the recipient, which is usually unexpected (consider you having a dark theme and your recipient light, or vice versa). Just in case, is Plain Text message also "affected"? Maybe a little screen shot showing quoted and unquoted text would help. It can be that the fonts being used are odd, as Patrick said. That's up to WebKitGTK+ to follow gtk+ font settings, +/- what font names Evolution tells it to use, which come from theme. You cannot tell that Evolution behaves wrong, when it follows the theme you chose to use. Nonetheless, I do not know where the issue is, neither what your Evolution version is, nor the WebKitGTK+ version. One theoretically related WebKit bug: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82889 It can be that the font is not really gray, it's just so tiny? Though you'd see similar behaviour in the message preview, which you probably do not? I'm sorry, but there are too many opened questions, too many possibilities.
