Yes. > Now I have each of my email address with a different tree of mbox > folders/files. > They each have in the root directory the basic inbox, sent, trash, > etc folders. In that case they are different "accounts" in Evolution terms. > There are many more folders, some in the root directory, most below. In the root directory of each email address? > > So can I have a directory for each of my email addresses ? Yes. > And will folders in subdirectories be recognized ? Yes. > And how to create new/empty mbox files. Right click on the account name and select "New Folder". You will then be presented with a dialogue box where you can select where you want the folder created and give a name. For an mbox account the "folder" equates to an mbox file. Because of the limitations of the underlying Unix filesystem you can't create subfolders of a mail folder like you can with Maildir (to do so would need the mbox file and the directory to have the same name). As I said before, you can't use this to create new subfolders (i.e. a directory in the filesystem), but you can create new folders in a subfolder. > My existing software uses Mozilla style mbox. It should still work - although if Mozilla stores specific flags in the mbox, they may not be interpreted correctly.
