Well this is interesting. Under the test login it still works, but
under my own login it still fails periodically. This is what I did:

* Created a completely fresh test login
* Ran Evolution and set up my two mail accounts (Gmail, IMAP)
* Stopped Evolution
* Ran "dconf dump /org/gnome/evolution/ > dconf-ev"
* Ran "dconf dump
/org/gnome/evolution-data-server > dconf-ev-ds"
* Switched to my own login
* Replaced .local/share/evolution with ~test/.local/share/evolution and
changed ownership
* Replaced .config/evolution with ~test/.config/evolution and changed
ownership
* Ran "dconf load /org/gnome/evolution/ < ~test/dconf-ev" in my account
* Ran "dconf load /org/gnome/evolution-data-server/ < ~test/dconf-ev-
ds" in my account
* Started Evolution (in my own login)

Initially it seemed to work, as reported earlier, but periodically it
fails. OTOH if I switch back to the test login, it continues to work
correctly (I'm using it to post this).

I'll try to capture debug info as suggested by Milan.
