Hi, just to clarify on these bits: the Exchange Web Services (EWS) protocol is provided by Exchange server since version 2007. Anything before uses MAPI. The MAPI protocol had been disabled by default since Exchange 2013. While it's preferred to use EWS (also because it behaves quicker than evolution-mapi), then the evolution-mapi can be still used and is in its maintenance mode just for pre-2007 servers and for users whom need it in pre-2013 for whatever reason (can be certain server setup or anything like that).
