As you imply, problems started when I changed the theme from from Adwaita to
Breeze.  Unfortunately, I made the change because I had found that Adwaita was
unusable, because of the way its scrollbars work.  I suspect there is a way to
fine-tune the Adwaita's scrollbars in Gnome, but I haven't found out how to do
it in KDE.

How can I help with debugging?  Would you like more backtraces?

Thanks for your help - jon
