It is a beuatiful feature of WebDAV [often criticized for being
'complicated'... it really isn't that bad] that it can be extended
without breaking standard functionality.  Clients can choose, or not,
to be aware of 'proprietary' attributes - and in practice many [most?]
clients support some non-standard properties anyway, as they are very
common.
