Hi, thread sorting has nothing to do with the format the message had been received, it's only about Message-ID, In-Reply-To and References headers. The actual position of the message in the thread depends also on some settings, namely those with 'thread-' prefix in org.gnome.evolution.mail DConf settings. I see there these main two: thread-children-ascending thread-latest The documentation you gave a link to describes default behaviour. You can have these options changed, or you can have a different sorting in the message list. I do not know. I only know that I didn't notice anything like this myself (yet).
