I believe I tried settings for plain text mode, but I will try again if
I get another message I can not display. 
Btw. it is under Preferences->Mail Preferences->HTML messages

Note that you can also view the source in Evo using View->Message

That should be displayable if the MIME encoding is correct. The fact
that TBird also spat it out may indicate a problem with your MIME
setup. What happens if you select Preferences->Mail Preferences
->General->Plain Text Mode->Show plain Text if present?
