Thank you, Patrick. The "preformatted" only came when I started
using 3.16.0. Perhaps I have missed something, but I do not see
anything which allows me to change templates other than the drop-down
box in the message header. For example, when I started this reply,
"preformatted" had already been selected.

IIRC the default setting is Normal. If you're seeing Preformatted then
you must have set it that way in the past. Perhaps you're using a
template without realizing it.
