(Apologies for outside-posting 8-) A couple of months ago I complained:

I tried Googling again today and turned up https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313632 which pointed me directly at the problem. Fixing the defaults tabs on my accounts removed the issue completely. No idea how they had been set incorrectly but I'd doubtless screwed up somehow. This mail is to help anyone searching for answers to the same complaint.
