Hi,
you shouldn't change underlying files of GConf, that's the reason why I
said to use GConf editor (gconf-editor is the application name). The
GConf daemon is running, and has those files cached, so using other than
its interface is "not doing anything". You can stop the daemon and then
deal with files, but really, use the GConf editor.
