A number of users on Debian found 2.26 much slower:

There is at least a partial work-around:

It's unclear whether the work around got them back to or better than
previous performance levels.

P.S. Are there release notes for 2.26 anywhere?
http://projects.gnome.org/evolution/documentation.shtml has release
notes for 2.24 and a link to the 2.26 manual, but no 2.26 release notes.
