Hi Andre and list, thanks for the fast feedback, sorry to mix up sylpheed and evolution, but wanted to write to evolution, as this has as well a calendar function.
So two ideas come here: (1) open office needs definately an email client and maybe an IM client. (2) Thunderbird will stay at Mozilla and the new roadmap is, to bring online and offline communication together, so like googletalk in googlemail, Retroshare is a cool Instant Messenger and Evolution is a cool Email client too. Both could merge and the atempt for this mail is, to bring both to OpenOffice as a new Component. I do not speak for Gnome only, but for all POSIX systems. Especially Windows. Retroshare is not "just" an IM, it is serverless and has secure file transfer. This is the function OOo is interested in, as this allows to send documents secure within collaborating teams. Good to hear, that you already planning to integrate the Instant Messaging function. Is there any SVN for the libpurple integration into Evolution? Or is it just discussion? libpurple is quite good, use it, rs is though a cool serverless jabber2 standard (see rfc in the forum), which should be added to libpurple.. or the mailclient. The idea is to offer this hybrid email client with rs IM to OpenOffice. As Evolution has as well the calendar function this matches perfect and as rs has the file transfer function of secure document transfer among collaborating coworkers, this is the function OOo asked for this IM. So I am trying to bring Evolution to OOo, but with serverless IM and for this the RS core library needs just a crossplatform gui, you use gnome, dunno, if this is working under windows and other linux. There are some debian and kubuntu and others installers available, maybe you want to test: http://content.emule-project.net/view.php?pid=1681 http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1800563&forum_id=618174 http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1770399&forum_id=618174 Would be nice to hear, that there is a (technical) way to port Evolution to Windows and to hear of interest to bring in all POSIX RS IM under the gui? If this is given, we could found a co-project for OpenOffice. Think that EvOOolution-Communicator is quite a good name? Regards Mike.
