That is an issue with the way gmail works. They intentionally block an email from being delivered to the client it is sent from. I *believe* this is to combat the googlefs that many people are using now to get a free 2GB+ network storage which can be mounted anywhere. If you want to receive your own emails, you will have to send them out with a different program, try configuring your outgoing messages to use sendmail.
