This might be just too obvious, but...

Did you ever think about asking your Kubuntu using colleagues, which GTK
theme they are using? This may indeed very well be a Kubuntu or KDE
specific theme. There are GTK theme engines out there, that actually use
Qt internally for a consistent look across Desktops...
