This doesn't do what you might think (I know since I use it). The "natural" (IMHO) interpretation is to not show in the folder pane those messages which have already been read, and that once a message is read it disappears from the pane. However what it actually does is to hide messages that have been read *up to the time it is applied*. It has no effect on messages read after that, even if you switch away from the folder and back again, so you have to re-apply it. In other words, it defines an action, not a condition. Why do I say the natural interpretation is to define a condition? Because on the very same menu we find View->Hide Deleted Messages, which *does* define a condition. It's true that Hide Deleted Messages gets a tick mark beside it when it's active (and Hide Read Messages doesn't) but when it's not active there's nothing to tell that one is qualitatively different from the other. Not a big deal, just another example of where the exact semantics of commands is not clearly defined anywhere and you have to experiment to find out what they do. poc _______________________________________________ Evolution-list mailing list Evolution-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
