No, to set an environmental variable depends on the shell, the normal bash shell you do it thus:
export CAMEL_DEBUG=all then run evolution You can also do it all in one, but you need to put it before the command, not after: CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution All the debug spew (you'll know when you see it) will just go to the terminal you ran it in.
