Since WW2 the U.S. has lost most of it's manufacturing (except weapons)
but it has remained a rich country by providing services, specifically
finance, higher education, and research. When I went to graduate school
at UC Santa Barbara in many of the math and engineering classes I was
the only American. In one seminar class I was pleased to see three
blondes in the first meeting. Turned out they were Scandavians. Trump
has already screwed our reputation as secure financial haven. If he
ruins our higher education and research advantage we'll be a bunch of
bean farmers.
