Our sister agency which manages a lot of third party databases for our libraries uses it to authenticate against the Evergreen patron database. The patron experience is pretty much the same as it would be if they were logging in via SIP - they enter their credentials on GALILEO's site and it authenticates against our database under the covers. I wasn't involved with the setup, but I know there is only a little bit of configuration you need to do on the Evergreen side, most of it is on the OpenAthens side.
