Good morning,

This question may be best addressed to the cataloging community specifically,
but I wanted to make sure I had all bases covered, so I apologize in advance
for any duplicate emails to those who may belong to both mailing lists.

We received the following question from a user recently about the Z39.50
importer:

"The import tool makes an absolute mess out of diacritics and other symbols.
I'm assuming that this is caused by other libraries using different character
encodings, but I was wondering if anything could be done to resolve this."

I am admittedly not entirely certain what could possibly be done about this
since the records are being provided by other libraries, but I wanted to see if
anyone else has encountered this, and if so, what might be done to resolve it,
if anything.

Thank you.
