It's not spite. Well, maybe for some folks, but not for me. Any time you buy something, some good and some harm results. I try to be aware of how that balances out, especially for major purchases. In my view, Elon Musk and Tesla are now causing more harm than good in the world. You might disagree with that, which I have no quarrel with. Suit yourself. We have a 2020 Renault Zoe. We like it a lot. Given the ways we use our car, and the driving situation here, a Tesla wouldn't have offered any real benefit. Quite the opposite; it would have been less comfortable to drive, especially for Margaret. It also would have cost 50-65% more. If and/or when it's time for another EV - hey, who knows, the Zoe might last the rest of my life - I might consider a Tesla if : (1) Elon Musk no longer profits from them; (2) They stop crapping on the environment (repeatedly breaking emissions laws with their paintshop, for example) and on their employees; and (3) they finally offer a vehicle that suits my needs at a reasonable price. If they don't - meh. Lots of other good EVs are available here, and I expect still more in a few years. Again, though - to each his own.
