I personally wouldn't try it, but that's me. IMO the only cure for a depreciated battery is replacement.
Over the years of reading the web and Home Power, I've read various tricks for trying to extend lead batteries' life. I suppose that whether you find these hacks useful depends in part on how much you value the time you put into them, and what worth you place on having a reliable battery.
