I also had good luck taking C-car parts into a good local parts jobber - an old-school place, not your basic Autozone or whatever chain. In the chain places, if your car isn't in the computer, they're pretty much hopeless.
These guys would keep the part for a few days, and look through their parts book and inventory for a match when they had a few spare moments. That's how I got a new master brake cylinder for the car.
