That's certainly encouraging, however I'm not feeling as secure as you
are. Maybe outside the US, which in the long run affects the US, they're
past the tipping point. But here, there is only a tiny percentage of
people buying EVs. Many are interested and watching but won't object to
keep buying ICEs indefinitely.
For example, a friend of mine said a month or so ago: "I'll buy one when
I can get 500 miles range." My friend is very supportive of EVs in
principal but not willing to make a personal risk, or perceived risk. I
asked, how often do you drive 500 miles, or even 400 miles in a day.
"Never," was the answer.
Then what's the issue ? "I'm afraid I won't find a charge station when I
need one." I showed them the chargedevs.com map and indicated there's no
shortage of charge stations in most parts of the US. I then explained
that a better question would be how long do you want to wait for a
charge, rather than where to charge, meaning that it might take 30-60
minutes to get an adequate charge and you'll want to be somewhere that
you would like to spend that time waiting.
Well, the story goes on, but you get the point. People, like my friend,
are very interested but they are not at all committed. The manufacturers
could ditch EVs in an instant and not dent sales in the near term.

Some on this list have disagreed with my thesis that we are now past the
tipping point for EV.
I am always watching for additional evidence that it is true (or not true).
Today Ford Motor Co.’s stock was downgraded by an analyst at JP Morgan. The
reason for the downgrade was that Ford did not have a clear EV strategy.
The market has apparently agreed with JP Morgan’s assessment, and Ford stock is
significantly down today.
Add this to the “past the tipping point” ledger.
