I had 2 eGO's. One of which I had upgraded to lithium using two Valence 12v
40ah batteries. I also put an LED motorcycle bulb in the headlight assembly.  I
kind of took it for granted and thought it was a wimpy bike that can't climb
hills very well.  However after taking one apart for sale to a Utah enthusiast
I find that it was way ahead of it's time. The guy in Utah knows how durable it
is and will put a hub motor on it and a big lithium 48v battery to increase
speed. The frame is also the battery compartment of welded aluminum and plenty
strong. The motor is connected to a jack shaft assembly that is the motor mount
and seat support. Plenty strong and durable. I disassembled all the electrical
connections except for the horn and lights as the eGO is 24vdc and took the
sprockets off the jack shaft including axle and bearings. While being a bit
wimpy up the hills it is the only brushed motor I have seen with successful
regen.  It has a 24v Sevcon controller, Nice charger with fan. Contactor.
Relays. Curtis fuel gauge and a heavy duty motor.  The eGO has no pedals but
somehow it is classified as a bicycle in California.  Even though it can do
23mph in go fast mode in go far mode it will only do 18mph. So I guess the
thinking was you would have to register it as a moped if you wanted to use go
fast mode. Newer eGO's have turn signals and a license plate holder. You can
still buy one new for $2,199 plus tax and shipping. I don't know of any other
EV that has been around that long except for golf carts. If you can get your
hands on one it is worth running somewhere like Sacramento stock or San
Francisco modified.  It is a hard tail  so a springy seat post will help as the
back tire needs 100psi.  I was going to sell it but after taking it apart I
have changed my mind. I think I will keep it stock as long as possible as it
works perfectly well to go to downtown San Francisco. I do weigh 240 so part of
the wimpy effect is my heavy weight.  I now also have some spare parts if
anyone is in need. Lawrence Rhodes
