Interesting! I bought mine used, and though working it was in rough condition. 
Its motor controller only has a pair of automotive-type "can" contactors and a 
starting resistor. Maybe it was an early model; or the resistors had failed at 
some point and were wired out.

The "clutch" is just a tensioner pulley moved by the clutch pedal. You start 
the motor, than slowly release the clutch pedal to start moving. It depends on 
the belt slipping a little to make smooth starts.

Indeed, the steering sector gear on my was greatly worn. It's been a while; but 
I think the problem in mine was that the pin that holds the sector gear to its 
shaft was so worn that it allowed excessive play. Drilling out the pin and 
replacing it with one size bigger tightened it up enough to steer much better.

Yes. I only have the plow blade for mine. I also have an orange (non-working) 
E8 (branded and sold by "New Idea"); but it has the mower deck. One of my 
projects is to see if I can attach the E8 mower deck to the E20.
