I particularly like that they will simply display & mic your phone

Not everyone has a smartphone, or wants one. Some people don't even have or

I'm another who doesn't have, or want a smartphone. I still use my
15-year-old flip-phone; it does everything I want, and nothing I *don't*
want. It works fine, runs for weeks on the battery, and only costs me
$10 a month for service.
I particularly don't want something that's an obvious theft hazard, data
privacy risk, and easy hacker target. I also don't want something I have
to replace every few years, and re-learn how it works.
But I can see using a smartphone for applications that you actually do
want and need. I'd just want one where all the extra "crap" could be
left out or turned off.
