Many years ago, before yahoo swallowed egroups.com , I created
several groups on egroups.com to promote interest in them:
EV, pih, & many more.

It worked quite well because now it was easier for the public to
search and find like minded users of a particular vehicle to get
answers and support.

However, I had lost control of some egroups to hackers which
made them become nothing but a spam eye-sores (rendering
them useless as a resource).

While other egroups enjoyed the life i breathed into them,
they voted &chose members to be system administrators of
their group (a group member decision), asked and were given
control of their group (i.e. Sparrow_EV to begin with...). The
RAV4_EV group didn't like egroups, and created their own
forum outside of egroups). Others went off and created their
own groups as well.

Later, after I had some medical issues that made it difficult
to type. I worked with all the remaining egroups I was
responsible for, to have their members vote which member(s)
would take over control.

That reduced my work load, and now their egroup was run by
the member(s) they voted for.

But egroups.com was bought out by yahoo, thus was renamed
as yahoo groups. That change over was at 1st, somewhat
transparent, but as was posted, it was common for bigger
silicon valley companies to 'microsquish' smaller companies

Later, Yahoo was taken over by another company, and its
policies were changed to use yet another company's
methods (this happened to my yahoo email account).

So, while Lawrence's post was not directly relating to the
evdl.org , there are evdl lurkers/members that also
participate in other forums, that like me, appreciate
Lawrence' 'heads-up' message that changes are
happening with yahoo-groups.

I'm glad the egroups I originally created are doing well
and are still a benefit to their member's interests :-)
