It even looks like Nike’s first delivery vehicle, a VW Type 2 Bus.

Volkswagen is about to go on a product offensive, introducing a lineup of
electric vehicles based on its new MEB platform. The first of these
vehicles, the ID.3 hatchback, has already been revealed in Europe, but the
US will only receive a crossover version rumored to be called the ID.4.
After the ID.4, VW will revive its iconic van with a production version of
the ID. Buzz, including a cargo van version, called the ID. Buzz Cargo.

We don't know exactly when these vans will be available to buy but VW hasn't
wasted any time promoting its future EVs in the US. VW has outfitted its ID.
Buzz Cargo Concept vehicle with a special livery to pay homage to Nike's
first delivery vehicle, a VW Type 2 Bus.

Nike was originally established in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports by Phil Knight
and Bill Bowerman. The company's first storefront was opened back in 1967 at
3107 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, California by its first employee, Jeff
Johnson. Johnson not only helped run the store, but he was also known for
traveling to local track meets to sell Nike products out of his personal
vehicle, a Volkswagen Type 2 Bus.

The ID. Buzz Cargo will make its first stop on a cross-country trip at
Nike's original Santa Monica store on October 5, 2019. It will then stop in
Chicago and New York City, where running communities and onlookers will be
able to view the future of the VW brand up close.

Along the way, the ID. Buzz Cargo will be used to promote VW's "Drive
Bigger" initiative of social and corporate responsibility. The tour will
utilize Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program, which turns worn-out sneakers into
materials used in running tracks, playing turf surfaces, and other athletic
gear.

"To learn Volkswagen played such an important role in Nike's early history
is a really big deal to us," remarked Saad Chehab, Senior Vice President, VW
Brand Marketing. "Supporting the rebirth of BRS is the perfect platform to
help promote the common values of our companies while showing the world VW's
commitment to electrification isn't just about personal transportation -
it's about moving everything in a smarter fashion."
