It's not necessarily a delibarate omission, more likely a thoughtless one. Journalists used to actually do the footwork for reporting. Some still do, and it sounds like several of the other sources cited in the post did exactly that. Unfortunately a some of them just transcribe news releases, and it sounds like that's what happened at the Post. I haven't read the Tesla advisory, but it probably didn't mention that gas and Diesel pumps would also be shut down. No need for that, since it was addressed to Tesla owners and was only about Teslas. So if it wasn't in the Tesla source, the careless and clueless "reporter" (secretary, typist, copy-and-paste lackey) who "wrote" this story probably didn't even think to include anything about powered-down gas pumps. You could write the Post to remind them, but they probably won't learn, will maybe issue a fauxpology, and will most likely make the same mistake again next time.
