California officials have created a five-member board to find ways for owners to afford insurance in fire prone areas and for utilities, like PG&E, to survive devastating wildfires that partly prompted the company to file for bankruptcy. The board met Wednesday April 3, 2019, to continue to consider who should pay for the increasingly destructive and costly wildfires. You refer to this policy as fire prevention, but really it is responsibility prevention that permits PG&E to fail to maintain its equipment and avoid accountability. A modern economy cannot prosper if it permits energy to become an unpredictable resource to protect the profits of an incompetent and corrupt corporation. No amount of upbeat advertising is going to fool us about what is going on here.
