Something does not make sense to me:
One backpack sized unit probably holds about 5kWh of usable energy.
The quoted price of $20 for 100 miles range would mean that this device, which
is indeed very handy and can be life-saving, can add about 20 miles to the
range of a Leaf, so you would need to find someone who is willing to drive this
backpack to a stranded Leaf and wait there until it has transferred its energy
into the Leaf and then get paid $4 for your time?
I don’t think so…
BTW, I say that this is a handy range extender, because I have a very similar
gadget in the trunk of my own Leaf which has 4 bars lost, so the range is
reduced to almost half the original, which is still enough for me, but carrying
an extra pack in the trunk, attached to a sine wave inverter which feeds it
into a charging station which has a J1772 plug with cord long enough to insert
into the front of the vehicle when I want to charge while parked in a place
that has no charger – yeah, that is very handy.
At the local EV Rally a few years back I saw a lady from San Francisco who came
down with her EV and did not want to bother to find a charger when she arrived
at the event, so after the event she was not sure if she could make it back so
she called AAA and had them bring out one of their roadside trucks with a
charging station attached to a genset in the truck bed, so instead of soaking
up the Solar generated electrons at the DeAnza parking lot, the AAA truck was
now belching out Diesel fumes for over half an hour, charging her car at a
modest 30Amps (12kW) until she judged that she could make it safely back to San
Francisco…
One of the SMH (Shaking My Head) moments…
But this also means that people who have roadside assistance will not call
Sparkcharge…

Wonderful, waste more energy delivering energy to an EV.

I suppose it would be fine if you were at 0% with no chargers around.
