A few months after unveiling its new Concept_Two all-electric hypercar,
Rimac is bringing the car to the US for the first time and unveiling a new
‘California edition’.

The Croatian automaker and electric component supplier said that the vehicle
will be at the Monterey Car Week.

But ahead of the show, Rimac unveiled the new edition at the Petersen
Automotive Museum.

Rimac said about the vehicle in a press release:

“Featuring captivating color and trim and new wheels design, the C_Two
was reimagined to tally with the vibrant Californian scene. Rounding it all
up, the new luxurious trunk represents the crown of this creative effort.
Tailored to comfortably fit two 6-liter champagne bottles and crystal
flutes, it celebrates the elegance and vibrant atmosphere of the Monterey
Car Week events. Moreover, it suggests an excellent opportunity to enjoy a
glass of champagne in the company of Rimac guests and hypercar enthusiasts.”

They released a series of images of the new Concept_Two ‘California edition’
...

Rimac says that it will host “private previews at its estate” leading to the
official events of the Monterey Car Week.

The company has been working on the ‘Concept_Two’ for a long time and it
reportedly had to adjust its plans after Tesla raised the bar when it
unveiled its next-gen Roadster prototype.

According to the company, the ‘Concept_Two’ will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph
in just 1.85 seconds.

The acceleration is achieved thanks to the car’s four independent electric
motors that can put out 1,914 hp and 2,300 Nm of torque.

Interestingly, the rear motors are equipped with a two-speed gearbox while
the front motors are equipped with the more traditional single-speed gearbox
for electric vehicles.

Those four motors are powered by 120 kWh of energy capacity held in two new
battery packs capable of DC fast-charging with CCS Combo.

Rimac decided to go with Lithium/Manganese/Nickel chemistry in cylindrical
21700 cells, like the ones in Tesla’s Model 3. They are using 6,960 cells.

They claim a range of 650-km (403 miles) NEDC.

The automaker is best known for its all-electric hypercars, but the company
is also emerging as a supplier for electric vehicle components. They’ve
already got a thriving business supplying some OEMs, like Koenigsegg and
Aston Martin.

The relatively small Croatian company recently received a significant
investment from Porsche and confirmed that it is now collaborating with the
German automaker on electric powertrains.

Earlier this month, we also learned that Rimac is helping build the
all-electric CUPRA e-Racer car.
