Correct, and the promotion above is one reason!  

A poll isn't like an election, where the object is to determine the future.  
It's an effort to find out what exists now.  You don't get accurate answers 
by letting rspondents tell all their friends to "vote" some particular way.

To put it another way, participants in internet polls like this one are self-
selected, so the polls have no statistical value.  They're easily dismissed, 
and they should be.

If Green Car Reports separately and individually contacted members of a 
representative sample of EV owners from all over, privately asking their 
charging energy source, that would work fine -- as long as proper polling 
methods were followed rigorously.  

They could even use a web response form, as long as they also used some 
method to keep respondents from taking the survey more than once, and/or 
encouraging  friends to take it (to deliberatly skew the results). For 
example, they might give each respondent an access code that only works 
once.  

This "poll" is cheap and easy to do.  It's a quick way to get Robert (and 
presumably others) to stop bugging them about the matter. But it's going to 
produce garbage results, and I suspect GCR knows it.  It's an opportunity 
wasted.
