I agree.  When you need to stop is the last time you’d ever want to have to be 
juggling two different systems to achieve the same goal.

I’ve taken apart the Ford brake pedal, and it’s really wonderfully designed…  A 
whole lot of work went into making it feel continuous and smooth, when it’s 
actually doing two very different jobs at different stages of throw.
