Bottom Line: $500 = 10 @$50 w/ exchange group24 12V deepcycle batteries (u-pickup) Never get any 12v battery that says 'starting', EV use w/ thin plates will kill the battery. 12V deep cycle (marine,rv,boat,solar) batteries just do not last in EVs (you are throwing your money away). If you do not want to go with even the smallest 6V traction batteries, then using 8V batteries is more cost effective over using 12V deep cycle batteries. Typically only half a deep cycle's Ah capacity is available (only half discharge it), else you will kill the cycle/battery's life (it will die a quick death): Group 24 75 Ah Group 27 90 Ah Group 29 100Ah If you were running on group 29 or 31 batteries, and switch to cheaper group 24's, they will have less capacity, thus less range. Recharge them asap to help preserve their life.
