I guess I need to update my website!
We now live in that cabin at the lake. The truck will be used to commute to
town, about 25 km one way. I figure 60 km range at 60-80 km/h is plenty. About
once a week I will haul 500 lbs of water home. Before I blew the engine, I used
the truck to put my boat in the water in spring and pull it out in fall. That
would be nice, but I won't take exceptional action to make that possible.
We have A 2009 Subaru Forester for trips beyond town and anything the truck
can't handle. That includes using a trailer to haul water if necessary.
Thanks!
Ron

than just throwing some EV info at you, IMO it is better to know moreabout
what your EV driving needs are (this helps determine your systemdesign: what
pack voltage, & chemistry, controller & motor type, charger, budget, etc.).You
stated the donor ice engine died. I will assume it is too costly torepair (as
compared to the cost of converting the truck to an EV. What wereyour uses of
the truck? (short commutes to work, shopping? ... did you haula boat, if so,
how heavy was it and how far?).Looking at your email's domain
http://jadero.com tells me -that you have the tools and skills to do your own
DIY EV conversion-that your job (that pays the bills) is located in Saskatoon,
SaskatchewanCanada, S7P 0A9and that your apt.(dwelling) is nearby (within
50km/30mi).-however your cabin in Beechy, SK S0L 0C0, Canada is over 2 hrs
or~200km/125mi away, see maphttps://goo.gl/maps
/6BjuDfgzxBm-the map shows there are few hills to climb (Canadian Prairie =
fairly flat)- using plugshare.com there is only 1 public L2 EVSE south of
Saskatoon.cathat is way out of your in

you are making a short range EV design, then a 3kW charger that you woulduse
to charge at your apt and or at work.I also suggest you make contact with a
Canadian EV parts sourcehttp://canev.com for Canadian weather specific needs
(batt box des
ign, insulation, battplate heaters, +more). So, I am hoping you will post more
about how you plan to use the truck EV:-be able to haul a (?lb) boat at highway
speeds (100+kph) with a 220km/137mirange or-the converted truck is just for
bopping/tooling around Saskatoon with atleast a 80km/50mi range at highway
speeds.For EVLN EV-newswire posts use:

planningFrom:"[email protected]"Date:Thu, 26 May 2016So I blew up the engine in
my Japanese mini-truck, a Daihatsu Hijet. Thereis a fellow Canadian who has
posted his conversion photos of the samevehicle. He left the transmission (and
clutch?) in place. That might be themost cost effective approach, but I'd like
to know what I need to just godirectly to the transfer case. (It's a 4 wheel
drive with 2-speed transfercase) I know I'll need to manufacture a cover with a
seal once the transmission isout, but I'm more concerned with motor
sizing/loading. If I'm also going toneed a gear reduct
ion, then I'm not sure it makes sense to go that route. I know that conversion
is likely going to be more expensive thanreplacement, but I would love doing
the conversion as a recreationalactivity. Thanks Ron---View this message in
